"esh" basics

"Esh" is a pronoun.  ("He", "she", "it", "they", "we", and "you" are pronouns.)

"Esh" is a gender free pronoun.  (Like "it", "they", "we", and "you".)

"Esh" is singular.  It holds the same meaning as "he", or "she", however, "esh" can be used when the gender of the person specified is unknown.

Definition-

That person who is neither speaker nor hearer.  Used in a generic sense when the sex of the person is unspecified.

Example:

I am looking for a new doctor.  I want to make sure that esh accepts my insurance.

The speaker says "esh" because the speaker does not know if the new doctor will be male or female. Therefore, "he" and "she" are inappropriate, "they" is inappropriate as there will only be one doctor, and of course, "it"  won't work either.
